Liceul Tehnologic “Mihai Eminescu” Dumbrăveni is located in the village of Dumbrăveni, Suceava County, in the north-east of Romania. Dumbrăveni is close to the town of Suceava, a place filled with history, where the medieval country of Moldavia was founded. Our school offers educational services for children and adults from Dumbrăveni and nearby villages, paying special attention to educating young people able to adapt to the present requirements of the labour market and to promoting local, national and European culture and values.
Most of the families in our area are large and have many children, which results in a difficult financial standing. This pressure makes many parents go abroad to find work, and as a result some students live in single-parent families or with other relatives. As neither the village, nor the parents can offer them a lot in terms of cultural education and entertainment, our school does its best to provide the pupils with a wide range of extracurricular activities and opportunities.
Our school numbers 1,760 students of all ages and the school staff consists of 95 teachers. The levels and specializations from Liceul Tehnologic “Mihai Eminescu” Dumbrăveni are as follows: preparatory class, primary school, secondary school, high school – theoretical branch (classes specializing in Philology and Mathematics- Computer Science), high school – technical branch (specializing as clothing industry technicians and mechanical maintenance and repair technicians), high school – part-time courses for adults (classes specializing in Philology), vocational school (specializing as clothing industry workers and machinery mechanics and repairers).
The educational process is carried out in six buildings spread around the village, four housing primary classes and the other two housing the secondary, vocational and high school classes. There are 42 classrooms, out of which five special classrooms for Mathematics, Romanian, Foreign Languages, History, and Mechanics; four laboratories for Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Computer Science; two workshops for the technical branch and vocational classes. The school also has three school libraries with 22,473 books, one office for the school counsellor, a Conference Room, four sports grounds and two gyms.
Our school was or continues to be involved in various national and international projects and contests, such as: the Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership “Forensics and Creative Theatre”, the Erasmus+ project “Thinking Allowed: Teenage students have their say on Human Rights”, “Eco-School”, “Eco Club Origami”, the SOP HRD project “ACTIVE FOR LIFE! – Non-formal Educational ACTIVitiEs FOR an Active LIFE”, the SOP HRD project “ACCESS SUCCESS – Innovative Programme of Additional Student Training for the National Assessment Exams”, the educational partnership with a school from Chernivtsi (Ukraine) called “Together – step by step towards a European education”, the annual singing contest “I Want to Sing”, the annual inter-school Mathematics contest “In Memoriam…”, the annual chess contest “In Memoriam Aurelian Stellia”, the annual inter-school English contest “Spelling Bee”, and many eTwinning partnerships. The experience that we have acquired and the priorities that we have established make our school a credible and valuable partner.
We are confident that taking part in the Erasmus+ School Exchange Partnership “Hand to Hand – Together in Europe” would allow our students to enrich their general knowledge and cross-cultural communication skills. We expect them to become aware of the different European values, to broaden their horizons and promote research on diverse topics. An Erasmus+ project would allow our pupils to improve their communicative skills in English, meet new people belonging to different cultures and form lifelong friendships. Students will have the opportunity to personally experience new cultures and share new things, which will enable them to learn to appreciate diversity.
