For the clubs “It’s us! – songs and dances” from all the partner schools, the month of June 2019 was dedicated to the topic “Rare authentic songs”. The pupils from Istituto Comprensivo “Giovanni Pierluigi” Palestrina from Palestrina (Italy) created three videos about the works of the club on traditional songs and dances. Below you can watch a video about a long work on the regional tradition of “stornelli” and “canzoni”: the Italian students sing, dance, create new “stornelli” and ask their grandparents for information.
From the South Italy comes a dance inspired by the laundress choir in the musical “La Gatta Cenerentola”.
“Tanto pe’ cantà” is a song from the central region of Italy, written by Ettore Petrolini in 1932.
By watching the video product below, created by the members of the club “It’s us! – songs and dances” from Liceul Tehnologic “Mihai Eminescu” Dumbrăveni (Romania), you can find out more interesting information about doina, a type of traditional song considered to be the essence of Romanian folk music, and the most profound and vivid lyrical expression of the Romanian soul. The video also contains the recording of a fragment of a rare authentic doina called “Greu îi, Doamne, greu” (“It’s so hard, oh Lord”), performed by the pupil Denisa Ștefănucă.
The members of the club “It’s us! – songs and dances” from Liceul Tehnologic “Mihai Eminescu” Dumbrăveni (Romania) also invite us to join them and dance the hora! In June 2019, they created this video product which includes information about hora, a traditional Romanian folk circle dance, as well as recordings of dances to three songs: “Cântă cucu-n Bucovina”, sung by Verona Adams, “Vino, vântule călduț” and “Oare cum o fi la joc”, both sung by Roxana Lupu-Moroșanu, which were filmed at the Bukovina Village Museum from Suceava.
In June 2019, pupils and club teachers from Şehit Ali Aksoy Ortaokulu from Akhisar (Turkey) performed a rare authentic Turkish song.
