In October 2020, the members of the club “It’s us! – songs and dances” from the partner school Şehit Ali Aksoy Ortaokulu from Akhisar (Turkey) worked on the topic of a traditional Turkish folk dance called Çayda Çıra. After being informed about this topic and carrying out research, the pupils created a PowerPoint presentation about the history of the dance and how it appeared.
A typical dance from the region of Elazig, Çayda Çıra is a favourite dance for henna-painting celebrations and weddings. It is danced in the dark with the dancers carrying candles on plates.
