During the fourth short-term exchange of groups of pupils that was hosted by the partner school Rīgas 22. vidusskola from Rīga (Latvia) between the 17th and 21st of February 2020, each team of pupils also presented a material about the folk or traditional costumes from their country, either in the form of a PowerPoint presentation or an oral presentation.

THE ITALIAN TEAM

The pupils from Istituto Comprensivo “Giovanni Pierluigi” Palestrina from Palestrina (Italy) performed a colourful parade and presented the costumes of the characters of Commedia dell’arte, which was an early form of professional theatre, originating from Italy, popular in Europe from the 16th to the 18th century.

THE ROMANIAN TEAM

The folk costume is a mark of ethnic identity, an expression of creativity and craftsmanship, as well as a testimony of historic evolution. Accompanying the human being from birth until death, the folk costume is a carrier of signs and symbols, and also a language of communication. In the PowerPoint presentation created by the members of the club “It’s us! – songs and dances” from Liceul Tehnologic “Mihai Eminescu” Dumbrăveni (Romania) you can discover details about the beautiful costumes from the ethnografic regions of Bukovina, Maramureș, Sibiu and Oltenia.
