In May 2019, the clubs “The magical world of fairy tales” from all the partner schools dedicated their efforts to honouring Europe Day. The pupils worked on the topic “The children of Europe” and created various texts, articles and PowerPoint presentations.
The members of the club “The magical world of fairy tales” from Şehit Ali Aksoy Ortaokulu from Akhisar (Turkey) received information about the topic and prepared a PowerPoint material about Europe Day that they presented to their classmates. The pupils from Istituto Comprensivo “Giovanni Pierluigi” Palestrina from Palestrina (Italy) attended a meeting of the European Youth Parliament organised in their hometown and wrote an article about this experience that you can read below.
EUROPEAN YOUTH PARLIAMENT:
NOW WE MAKE THE DIFFERENCE!
Thanks to an initiative of the Municipal Council of Palestrina, the European Youth Parliament was established. The 20th March of the 2019, at the Comprehensive School Goffredo Mameli, the first plenary of the European Youth Parliament took place, in which young MEPs actively participated by proposing solutions to current problems. The fourth and fifth grades of the primary school and the second and third grades of the secondary school represented a state of the EU and they voted two respective MEPs.
In the plenary, there were 58 MEPs of the three comprehensive schools of Palestrina: Wojtyla, Mameli and Pierluigi, who exhibited the issues addressed in recent months with their respective solutions to improve the EU. The recurring problems were environment, youth unemployment, immigration, gender difference.
All the MEPs listened to the proposals of each class / state very carefully, because in the next plenary it will be necessary to vote for the issues to be faced all together.
The plenary was chaired by the municipal former President of the Council of Palestrina: Emiliano Fatello, headmasters and of the three comprehensive schools and many professors.
“In our opinion these projects are important to introduce us to political life and give our contributions to improve the conditions of our country and of the UE, thanks to gestures that can make the difference. Now the word to young, the architects of the future: WE ARE THE EUROPE!” This is the opinion reported by some MEPs.
