In September 2020, the members of the club “Nature Wonders” from the partner school Şehit Ali Aksoy Ortaokulu from Akhisar (Turkey) dedicated their activities to the topic of “Fairy Chimneys”. After being informed about this topic and examining paintings, the pupils created drawings .
The unusual rock formations known as “fairy chimneys” are a fascinating World Heritage Site and have made Cappadocia one of the most popular destinations in Turkey. Having emerged due to a geological process that began millions of years ago, the “fairy chimneys” that can be seen today stretch as far as 130 feet into the sky. If once they offered refuge for persecuted Christians, now some of the cave dwellings have been converted into boutique hotels.
Note: Starting from March 2020, the activities of the project clubs from all the partner countries were carried out mainly online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
