In October 2020, the members of the club “Nature Wonders” from the partner school Şehit Ali Aksoy Ortaokulu from Akhisar (Turkey) dedicated their activities to the topic of “Mount Nemrut”. After being informed about this topic, conducting research and examining photos of the statues that can be found on Mount Nemrut, the pupils created miniature sculptures made of clay.
The summit of Mount Nemrut is home to one of Turkey’s most iconic sights and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The fascinating funerary mound of King Antiochus I (69 – 34 B.C.) of the Kingdom of Commagene sits atop this 2,150-meter peak. The spectacular terraces here are littered with the toppled remnants of giant stone statues that were once majestically lined up to celebrate Antiochus’ glory and power.
In October 2020, the members of the club “Nature Wonders” from Liceul Tehnologic “Mihai Eminescu” Dumbrăveni (Romania) went on a last trip together in the woods around Dumbrăveni. The pupils took many pictures, applying what they had learnt during the photography workshop organised in their school in September and capturing the beauty of nature in autumn.
Note: Starting from March 2020, the activities of the project clubs from all the partner countries were carried out online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
